John Thomas Lassiter, Sr. “Rock”

John Thomas Lassiter, Sr. “Rock”, 78, of Princeton, passed away on Thursday, July 29, 2021 at UNC Johnston Healthcare in Smithfield surrounded by family. Rock was born in Wayne County on July 18, 1943, one of ten children, to the late Nathan Lassiter and Effie Mae Pearce Lassiter.

In addition to his parents, Rock is preceded in death by his siblings; Nathan (Coot) Lassiter Jr., Gardner (Yo) Lassiter, Thurman Lassiter, Noah (Paul) Lassiter, Edna Starling, Edward “Tommy” Lassiter, David Lassiter, Randolph “Monk” Lassiter, and Margie Pipkin.

Rock tirelessly devoted himself to the love of his life, Emily Jean Littleton Lassiter of 58 years; sons, John Lassiter, Jr. and wife Leigh Anne of Princeton, Jimmy Lassiter and wife Stacee of Kentucky; daughters, Jeannie Jackson and husband David of Goldsboro, Joy Overman and husband Chris of Goldsboro, Joanne Honn of Goldsboro; eight grandchildren, Heather and husband Jamie, Joshua and wife Bliss, Pamela, Matthew Ryan and wife Kayla, Jason Dale, Maddie, Eric Scott, John Thomas; and eight great grandchildren, Hunter, Kaleb, Kaden, Emma, Paris, Shelby, Dallas, and Easton.

Rock retired from Cherry Hospital where he worked as a maintenance mechanic. He looked forward to and enjoyed cooking Sunday lunch with Jean for their entire family. He was a loving husband, daddy, Pa, brother, uncle, and friend. He will be surely missed but precious memories will forever remain in the hearts of those who know and loved him.

A funeral service to celebrate Rock’s life will be held at 6:00 PM, Sunday, August 1, 2021 at Casey Funeral Home and Cremations Chapel with Reverend Andy Stovall officiating. A visitation will be held prior to the service from 4:00 PM – 6:00 PM at Casey Funeral Home and Cremations. Burial will be held at 10:00 AM, Monday, August 2, 2021 at the Princeton Cemetery in Princeton. Friends and relatives are invited to gather at other times at the home of Joanne and Maddie at 560 Braswell Road in Goldsboro.
