Evelyn Marie Lewis Brogden, 92, was received into the arms of her Heavenly Father on Tuesday, July 20, 2021. Marie was born in Wayne County to the late Walter and Jeanette Turner Lewis. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Dewey Brogden; and son, Lee Brogden.

Marie had a strong commitment and love for her Lord and Savior. As an attentive mother and grandmother, she taught the love and fear of God to her family and ensured that they were in church. She lived by the Word of God and leaned strongly on her personal values. Marie was a member of Rosewood First Baptist Church.

Through the years with her family and many friends she had a patient, caring, understanding and open mind, found wonderful conversation thereby giving as well as receiving great love.

The family will receive friends at Seymour Funeral Home from 6:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Friday, July 23, 2021 followed by a service to celebrate Marie’s life at 7:00 p.m. in the chapel with Rev. Vernon Braswell and Rev. Mike Collier officiating. Interment will be at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 24, 2021 in Evergreen Memorial Cemetery with Rev. Marvin Ownley.

Marie is survived by her son, Steve Brogden and wife Sheila; grandchildren, Sherry Jones and husband Billy, Stacy Holloman and husband Doug, and Stephanie Davidson and husband Chris; eight great-grandchildren; brothers, Dail Lewis and wife Janice and George Lewis and wife Jerrie; and a special niece, Susan Lewis. She is also survived by a daughter-in-law, Charlene Brogden and her family.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be given in her memory to Rosewood First Baptist Church, Buildings and Grounds, 562 N.C. Hwy. 581 South, Goldsboro, NC 27530.
