Margaret Pruett Hardy

Margaret Pruett Hardy

July 15, 2021, 58, Goldsboro –

Clinging to the living hope of resurrection through Jesus Christ, Margaret Pruett Hardy, 58, entered into new life with her Savior. Sown in weakness yet raised in power, Margaret has experienced the great love our Father lavishes upon us as she now lives eternally with the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort.

Margaret was born in Selma, Alabama to the late Dr. William Kelly Pruett, Sr. and Billie Jean Walker Pruett on August 24, 1962.

With a faith that was formed from an early age, Margaret worshiped in her early years at Madison Avenue Baptist Church and most recently joined with the fellowship of believers at The First Pentecostal Holiness Church in Goldsboro.

Exhibiting a welcoming spirit and warm personality, Margaret served members of the community in Goldsboro through her many years of employment as branch manager for East Coast Federal. Customers soon became friends as they put their trust in her knowledge and abilities.

Family was of greatest importance to Margaret as was illustrated through the time and energy she devoted to each of them. Enjoying cooking, there was no grander delight than gathering her family around the table to share a meal. Birthdays and holidays became elaborate affairs as Margaret critiqued every detail until matters were perfect. Margaret also found joy in music and enjoyed playing the piano.

Margaret’s beauty was far more than a façade, as the splendor of her spirit radiated like the shining of the sun. Her ability to relate to others was unsurpassed, and one who was once a stranger could quickly find in her a generous friend.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, July 21, 2021 from 6:00 – 7:00 p.m. at The First Pentecostal Holiness Church followed by a service to celebrate Margaret’s life at 7:00 p.m. in the sanctuary with Pastor Bill Rose and Pastor John Howard officiating. The family will also greet friends Wednesday following the service at the church and other times at her home, 502 Plantation Road, Goldsboro. Interment will be on Thursday, July 22, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. in Wayne Memorial Park.

Margaret is survived by her husband of 34 years, Phil Hardy; children, Allyson Hardy Flemer (Charlie Young), Phillip A. Hardy, Jr. and wife Karsan, and Emily Hardy Barbour and husband Justin; grandchildren, Caroline Leslie Flemer, Claire Corbett Flemer, Cole Andrew Flemer, Ellie Walker Barbour and Hayden Lee Hardy; brother, Dr. Bill Pruett, Jr. and wife Lia; and aunt, Elizabeth Walker Barnette.
