Lillian Elizabeth Sauls Wade

Lillian Elizabeth Sauls Wade

July 17, 2021, 89, La Grange –

Lillian Elizabeth Sauls Wade went home to be with her Lord on Saturday, July 17, 2021. She was born in Lenoir County to the late John and Doris Rouse Sauls. In addition to her parents, Lillian was preceded in death by her husband, Vander Wade, Jr., son, Michael Wade; daughter, Terry Beth Wade; daughter-in-law, Tammi Harrell Howard; and her siblings.

A longtime member of Bethel United Methodist Church, Lillian’s faith was at the forefront of her life. She loved God’s handiwork. The bright colors of her flowers and their fragrant aromas brought her much joy. She enjoyed the time she spent outdoors planting and caring for her flowers with her natural “green thumb”. Lillian’s love of the outdoors extended into the pleasure she found in fishing. Nothing made her more relaxed than the smell of the salt in the water and the feeling of the tug on the end of the line.

With years spent in the medical field, Lillian took pride in her occupation as a nurse. After her retirement, she was a dedicated caregiver to her husband. In her free time, she looked forward to the days of hair and nail appointments.

Lillian was a wonderful mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Her family will long remember the wonderful meals around her table and the holidays they shared together. Her fried chicken and mashed potatoes with egg gravy were two of her signature dishes, and no one else in the world can make them like her.

A service to honor and celebrate Lillian’s life will be held Wednesday, July 21, 2021, at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Rouse Funeral Home. The family will receive friends for a time of visitation in the hour before the service. Committal will follow at Fairview Cemetery in La Grange.

Lillian is survived by her children, Charles Wade and wife, Sheila Carter Wade, and Bruce Wade and wife, Barbara; grandchildren, B.J. Wade (Dawn), Ashley Wade Brownlee (Shane), Brooke Wade, and Heather Wade Winstead (Brandon); and great-grandchildren, Asa and Lilly Wade, Hannah and Emily Brownlee, and Brody and Brantlee Webster.

Online condolences may be expressed at www.rousefh.com. Arrangements are entrusted to Rouse Funeral Home, La Grange.
