A Downtown Goldsboro ice cream parlor wins a national contest.

The Ice Storm, at 116 S. Center Street, has been chosen as the grand prize winner in Blue Bunny’s Heart of Fun Parlor Refresh Contest.

Yvonnia Moore, a partner at The Ice Storm, says a customer clued them in to the contest.

Moore says she’ll never forget the customer saying “you never know!”

Moore says they’ve had to “weather the storm” which includes financial hardships due to the pandemic over the past year.

While you get something to eat or a cool treat at The Ice Storm, Moore notes they’ve always strived to be more than that.

For instance, The Ice Storm is hosting a young entrepreneur program this summer.

For winning, The Ice Storm will receive a grant and store redesign totaling $55,000 courtesy of Blue Bunny and Nate Berkus, interior designer and TV personality.

The Ice Storm opened in Goldsboro in 2012.
