COVID-19 Cases Increasing Across State, Wayne County

COVID-19 cases are trending up across the state, and Wayne County is not immune.

According to Friday’s figures from the N.C. Department of Health and Human Services, there have been 121 new cases of COVID reported in Wayne County in the last 14 days.  The county has also recorded 243 coronavirus-related deaths since the pandemic began.

Last week, Wayne County crossed 41,000 persons receiving a dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.  The Friday figures show 41,396 people had received at least one shot, representing 34% of Wayne County’s population.  38,543 people have been fully vaccinated in Wayne County, which is just 31% of the county’s population.
