Starting in August, the University of Mount Olive will offer an in-person Master of Business Administration (MBA) program at Johnston Community College’s Smithfield campus. The eight-week courses will be taught on Tuesday evenings from 6 to 9 PM. According to Dr. Kathy T. Best, Dean of the Tillman School of Business, students enrolled in the program can expect to graduate in about 12 to 18 months.
“This 36-semester hour program is for anyone who wants a solid business understanding to strengthen their skillset in any area from agriculture to manufacturing and from health care to business,” said Dr. Paul Rutter, Executive Director for Strategic Partnerships. “Students will gain diverse knowledge in accounting, management, information systems, finance, economics, business law, and ethics.”
Rutter notes that one of the key advantages of the program is its flexibility. “If work or life obligations get in the way, and a student misses a course, then a makeup course can be taken online or during the next seated cohort of the MBA in Smithfield,” Rutter said. “Students like knowing this option is available.”
Another attractive component is location. “Johnston County has 93,000+ people, is located minutes from Raleigh and RTP, and has a diverse industry presence,” said Best. “It’s inevitable that this partnership between JCC and UMO is a sure route to success.”
Interested applicants with an existing undergraduate degree, should contact Dr. Rutter at [email protected] for more information or call 919-299-4818. Rutter notes that neither the Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT) nor the Graduate Record Examination (GRE) is required for entry into the program.
