KPD: Suspect Accused Of Trafficking Heroin/Fentanyl Mix

Last week Tuesday, the Kinston Police Department pulled over a Chevy Tahoe for a motor vehicle violation.  During the stop, the officers reportedly found approximately 55 grams of a fentanyl/heroin mixture, as well as marijuana, cocaine, oxycodone pills and drug paraphernalia inside the vehicle.  The driver, 34-year-old Darrell Koonce of Kinston, was arrested and charged with:

  • Trafficking Heroin/Fentanyl
  • PWISD Schedule I
  • PWISD Schedule II
  • PWISD a Controlled Substance within 1,000 feet of a School
  • Possession of Cocaine
  • Maintaining as Dwelling/Vehicle
  • Possession of Marijuana
  • Possession of Drug Paraphernalia

Koonce was held at the Lenoir County Jail under a $300,000 secure bond.
