Despite periods of wind and heavy rain, Tropical Storm Elsa left Wayne County mostly unscathed as she passed over the state Thursday.  A Tornado Warning was issued briefly for Wayne County in the 11 AM hour.  Preliminary figures from the National Weather Service show about 1 ½ inches of rain fell in Wayne County.  Some areas near Raleigh saw closer to five inches during the storm.
