United Way Of Wayne County To Host Volunteer Fair

The United Way of Wayne County will hold a volunteer fair August 31st at The Maxwell Center from 10:00 AM – 1:00 PM. A volunteer fair, similar to a job fair, is designed for volunteer opportunities. Local nonprofits have booths that explain what they do and their volunteer needs. Door prizes will be awarded to both exhibitors and volunteers attending.

“A volunteer fair helps us connect people with time and talents to share to nonprofits looking for volunteers. It gives us an extra way to fulfill our mission of bring resources and people together to improve our community. Our local nonprofits do a fantastic job and this is another way for us to support their work”, said Sherry Archibald, UWWC Executive Director.

The volunteer fair is an easy way for people to learn about rewarding volunteer opportunities in Wayne County. The volunteer fair is for people of all ages from teens to seniors and will showcase a variety of opportunities that will appeal to everyone from animal lovers to artists. ” Come out and see what’s here”, said Rachel Rhodes Community Investment and Engagement Director UWWC, “Volunteering may not be what you expect. There are opportunities that can be done from home, at various times throughout the day and even on social media. There are also opportunities that can help you learn new skills to strengthen your resume or create a creative outlet for yourself”, Rhodes said.

Nonprofits wishing to have a booth at the volunteer fair should register by calling the United Way at 919-735-3591 or emailing [email protected].
