Wayne UNC Health Care To Begin 125th Anniversary Festivities

Wayne UNC Health Care kicks off its quasquicentennial celebration today, Thursday, July 1.

In celebrating the 125th birthday of the Wayne County hospital, Wayne UNC is starting a fundraising effort for its foundation.

A virtual ribbon cutting kicking off the 125th birthday celebration is being held today at 10 AM.

Jacqueline Kannan, Executive Director of the Wayne Memorial Hospital Foundation, says investments in the foundation will help prepare the local hospital for he next 125 years.

She says Wayne UNC Health Care has events lined up over the next several months in honor of its 125th anniversary.

Kannan says the events include an exhibit at the Wayne County Museum as well as popup museum events, a virtual fun run and a challenge to spend 125 minutes outdoors.

There is also a community health initiative focused on diabetes care, cancer care, stroke awareness, and orthopedics.
