Viola May Carr Clinard

Viola May Carr Clinard, 91, passed away Tuesday, June 29, 2021 at Hillcrest Convalescent Center in Durham. Born in Tallassee County, Alabama on May 3, 1930, she was the daughter of the late John Spicer Carr and Hattie Mae Cogdell Carr.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Dempsey Clinard; her six siblings, Louise Ingram, Jewell Casey, Pete Carr, Glenn Carr, Spicer Carr, Jr., and Ray Carr; and step-sons, Michael Clinard and Jonathan Clinard.

Viola is survived by her many nieces and nephews; step-daughter, Lynn Kuhzami; and step-son, Gregory Clinard.

Viola was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Greensboro. She retired from Seymour Johnson Air Force Base in Goldsboro where she worked as an assistant to Col. Chuck Yeager.

Viola had a radiant personality and was the life of the party. She had a sweet and innocent demeanor which made her comical and easy to love. Viola took great pride in her appearance being neat and elegant.

A graveside service to celebrate Viola’s life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 3, 2021 at Wayne Memorial Park with Mr. Allen G. Aycock officiating. The family will receive friends following the service at the cemetery.
