APPLICANTS WANTED: Get Involved With Your County Government

It’s your chance to get involved and have a voice in your local government.

Wayne County is seeking applicants for its numerous boards, committees and commissions.

Wayne County Public Information Officer Joel Gillie says they’re constantly looking for residents to get involved and “help shape the community.”

For instance, there is a board that oversees all of the planning and development in the county, while the Latino Council Board works to improve the lives of Latinos in Wayne County, to boards and committees for senior citizens and older adults.

Gillie says no experience is necessary for serving, although having some interest or expertise in the subject area is helpful.

The various boards, committees and commissions often make recommendations to the Wayne County Board of Commissioners.

Gillie notes there is a time commitment as many of these boards and commissions meet once-a-month.

The application and a full list of Wayne County’s boards, committees and commissions can be found at WayneGov.com.
