Drought conditions have eased in Wayne County.

This time last month, there was concern about drought settling in for the summer.

But an onslaught of rain has changed all that.

According to this week’s map from the U.S. Drought Monitor, the dry or drought conditions have disappeared in Wayne and Lenoir counties.

However, a large swath of Central North Carolina is still considered abnormally dry.
