Volunteers Still Needed For Summer Tutoring Program

Tutors are still needed to help get kids back up to speed following an academic year impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.

United Way Executive Director Sherry Archibald talked about the Unlimited Impact initiative on Jeff Farrow’s Morning Show on Goldsboro’s Greatest Hits.

Archibald says there was only so much teachers could do as they strived to makes students successful in a learning year different from many others.

Unlimited Impact, a partnership between the United Way of Wayne County, Wayne County Public Schools and The First Church, is providing tutoring sites across Wayne County staffed by volunteers through August 5th.

Archibald says volunteers do not need to be formal educators, and materials will be provided to help the tutors work with the students.

She says anything people can give will “be the icing on the cake” as the students attempt to make sure they’re ready for the next school year.

Interested volunteer tutors can download an application at UnitedWayne.org or call 919-735-3591.
