Toby Lee Grimes, 60, passed away on Thursday, June 10, 2021 at Wayne UNC Health Care. Born on October 20, 1960, he was the son of the late John David Grimes and Willie Weaver Grimes.

Those who met Toby instantly felt a connection with him. He made everyone he came in contact with feel as if they had been friends for a lifetime. His friendliness and demeanor are a testament to how Toby lived his life.

For over 30 years, Toby was a volunteer fireman with Faro Volunteer Fire Department. Toby spent many years as a truck driver. He will be remembered for his hard work ethic, no matter what job he was doing.

Family was paramount in Toby’s life. His love for his wife, daughter, and grandchildren was evident in his everyday walk. He will always be remembered as a loving husband, father, and grandfather.

Toby felt most comfortable when he was in the outdoors. He loved going fishing and hunting. His wife, Debra, was his hunting buddy. The time they spent together in the woods were memories they will cherish forever. Along with hunting and fishing, Toby loved to camp.

A service to celebrate Toby’s life will be held on Thursday, June 17, 2021, at 11:00 AM at Heart of David Ministries in Eureka. Internment will follow the service at the West-Grimes Family Cemetery at the corner of Stan Ray Road and Big Daddy’s Road. The family will receive friends on June 16, 2021 from 6:00-8:00 PM at Seymour Funeral Home.

Toby is survived by his loving wife, Debra Grimes; daughter, Kristina Howell and husband, Chad; grandchildren, Alexus Howell, Aubrey Howell, and Liam Howell. Toby is also survived by his two sisters, Diane Mozingo and Sherry Collie, as well as many cousins and nieces that he loved dearly.
