Milford Glenn Newcomb, 71, passed away on June 8, 2021 from a tough battle with cancer. He was born in Wayne County July 5, 1949 to the late Inez Lawhorn Newcomb and Glenn Hoover Newcomb. Once he graduated from Southern Wayne High School, he went on to serve in the Army National Guard for 6 years in the 105th Medical Battalion.

In 1970, he married the love of his life, Elizabeth Gaynelle Newcomb, which lasted for 50 years. They built, owned and operated Glenn’s Country Store for 30 years in Dudley, NC. During this time, they made many lifelong friends.

He was a member of the VFW Auxiliary of Cedar Point and the American Legion Post 11 of Goldsboro.

Hobbies included: coaching men & women’s softball (Newcomb’s Cabinet Shop won multiple championships), cooking/grilling for the young military men and women of Seymour Johnson Air Force Base, fishing on his boat at Oyster, VA and Morehead City, NC; watching Nascar racing & Atlanta Braves baseball, golfing, and enjoying his grandchildren. He was a proud father & Papa to his two children and four grandchildren.

Milford is survived by his wife, Gaynelle; daughter, Candace Newcomb Price (husband Thomas) of Middlesex; son, Allan Newcomb (wife Robin) of Clayton; three grandchildren, Blair Price, Ean and Owen Newcomb; sisters, Glenda Newcomb and Phyllis Hargrove; brother, Bill Newcomb; several nieces and nephews.

Predeceased by: Glenn Newcomb, Inez Newcomb, Frank Newcomb, JJ Hargrove, Kay Ludlum and Ian Price.

Graveside service will be held at Wayne Memorial Park, 2925 U.S. Hwy. 117 South, Dudley, NC June 11, 2021 @ 11:00am. The Rev. Sam Barfield will officiate. The family will receive visitors at the home. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Shriners Hospitals for Children.
