City’s New Budget Includes Tax, Water & Sewer Rate Increases

The City of Goldsboro is working on its new budget which includes proposed tax increases.

The City Manager’s recommended 2021-2022 Fiscal Year Budget includes a three-cent property tax increase as well as a water and sewer rate increase of 15% for all rate categories.  There is also a suggested change in public utility surcharges and fees.

A copy of the proposed budget for the fiscal year beginning July 1, 2021 and ending June 30, 2022 is on file in the office of the City Clerk and on the City of Goldsboro’s website.  The budget is available for public inspection during normal business hours from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. until the budget ordinance is adopted.  The City Clerk’s office is located in City Hall at 200 North Center Street in Goldsboro.

The Goldsboro City Council will conduct a public hearing on the proposed budget and the proposed water and sewer rate increases during their regularly scheduled meeting on Monday, June 7, 2021, at 7:00 p.m., or as soon thereafter as may be heard, in the Council Chambers located at City Hall, 214 North Center Street in Goldsboro. Any person who wishes to be heard on the budget may appear.
