Wayne County’s Jobless Rate Decreases Again

Wayne County’s unemployment rate continues its slow and steady improvement.  According to figures released this week by the N.C. Department of Commerce, Wayne County seasonally unadjusted jobless rate decreased to 4.6% in April, down from the 4.8% rate recorded in March.  The county has now halved its unemployment rate from one year ago.  In April of 2020, Wayne County’s jobless rate was 9.6% as pandemic restrictions impacted the labor market.  Approximately 2,300 people out of Wayne County’s 50,000 person workforce were considered unemployed this April.
