The Wayne County Fire Marshal has issued a Burn Ban for Wayne County effective Monday, May 24, 2021 at 3:00 p.m. until further notice. This ban prohibits open-burning within any unincorporated area within Wayne County due to dry conditions and high temperatures expected this week. Earlier today, the N.C. Forest Service issued a similar ban for 26 counties including Wayne County due to hazardous forest conditions.

This burn ban includes burning leaves, branches or other plant material. In all cases, burning trash, lumber, tires, newspapers, plastics or other non-vegetative material is illegal. If you see a wildfire, please call 911 immediately.
