James Thomas “Tom” Miller, 66, passed away peacefully at his home on Monday, May 17, 2021. Tom was born in Lenoir County on September 19, 1954.

He is survived by his loving wife, Susan Miller; a son, Milton Thomas Miller; a step-son, Wayne Smith and wife, Julie; grandson, Kenan Smith; brothers, Earl Miller (Tina) and Gerald Miller; sisters, Connie Radford and Tammy Mooring and husband, David, his special brother-in-law that Tom considered his hero; sister-in-law, Kay Wene and husband, Pete; and father and mother-in-law, Mr. And Mrs. D.J. Pelt; as well as many nieces and nephews. Tom was preceded in death by his father, James E. Miller, and his mother and step-father, Frances and Gene Wiggins.

Tom will be greatly missed.

A service to honor and remember Tom’s life will be held by the graveside at Fairview Cemetery on Friday, May 21, 2021, at 11 a.m. Tom’s family will be receiving friends for a time of visitation at Rouse Funeral Home from 5-7 p.m. on Thursday evening, as well as other times at the home.
