Wayne, Surrounding Counties Listed As “Abnormally Dry”

Drought conditions are creeping into North Carolina.  The map released last week by the U.S. Drought Monitor shows much of Central and Eastern North Carolina is abnormally dry, including Wayne and neighboring counties.  The southernmost area of the state is already listed in moderate drought.  The latest forecast from the National Weather Service shows only slight chances for rain across the region over the next week.
