Two Arrested For Kinston Assault, More Charges Possible After Victim Dies

Two suspects are arrested in a Kinston assault. Kinston Police officers responded to a report of persons tampering with motor vehicles on the 100 block of W. Gordon Street on May 2nd.  Once at the scene, officers found 57-year-old Jeffery Hill of Kinston suffering from severe injuries to his head and face.  Hill has passed away at Vidant Medical Center in Greenville on Tuesday.  The KPD now reports 41-year-old Clinton W. Christmas of Raleigh and 45-year-old Joseph D. Hughes of Kinston have been arrested and charged with Assault Inflicting Serious Bodily Injury for their alleged involvement in this case.  The Kinston P.D. says the case remains open and officers are conferring with the District Attorney’s office about additional charges.
