Effective Immediately, North Carolina is lifting all mandatory capacity and gathering limits as well as all social distancing requirements.
Governor Roy Cooper announced the latest round of eased restrictions Friday afternoon.
Also, some of the state’s mask mandates are being lifted.
In most settings, indoors and outdoors, North Carolinians are no longer required to wear a mask or stay socially distanced from others.
Gov. Cooper urged residents to be responsible and continue wearing masks if they have not been vaccinated against the coronavirus.
N.C. Department of Health and Human Services Secretary Dr. Mandy Cohen says everyone will still be required to wear masks in some settings including:
- Public transportation
- Healthcare settings (hospitals, doctor’s office, nursing homes)
- High risk congregate settings (prisons, homeless shelters)
- Child care
- Schools
- Camps
Masks are also still urged in large indoor crowds, such as entertainment venues and sporting events.
Businesses may still choose to require customers to wear masks.
