Wayne County’s Unemployment Rate Declines In March

Wayne County’s unemployment rate continues its slow and steady improvement.  According to the latest figures from the N.C. Department of Commerce, Wayne County’s seasonally unadjusted jobless rate dropped to 4.8% in March, down from the 5.8% rate reported in February.  2,422 persons were considered unemployed in Wayne County this March.  Wayne County’s unemployment rate is still slightly higher than it was one year ago.  In March of 2020, the county’s jobless rate was recorded at 4.1% as COVID-19 restrictions were starting to take effect.
