One Worker Killed In Workplace Accident Near Mount Olive

The state is investigating after one person is fatally electrocuted during a work-related accident in Wayne County.

According to preliminary information provided to GoldsboroDailyNews.com by the N.C. Department of Labor, the incident took place Wednesday at Cashwell & Jones (parent company Harvey Fertilizer and Gas) just west of Mount Olive.

According to the preliminary report, workers struck a power line while attempting to install a flag pole.

One worker was killed and two more were injured.

The Occupational Health and Safety Division at the N.C. Department of Labor is investigating the incident to determine the cause of the accident and whether a violation of occupational safety and health standards related to the accident occurred.
