Late Tuesday afternoon, Wayne County EMS and Dudley firefighters responded to a motor vehicle crash on U.S. 117 Alt. and J.B. Price Drive just south of Dudley.  A black Ford Ranger was apparently heading north on 117 Alt. when it ran off the right shoulder of the road, went over the ditch and struck several small trees before coming to a stop.   The driver had to be taken to the hospital to be checked out for injuries.  Firefighters directed traffic through the accident scene.  The North Carolina State Highway Patrol is investigating the crash.
