Come one, come all and get your COVID vaccine!
During Tuesday’s Wayne County Board of Commissioners meeting, County Manager Craig Honeycutt was sure to thank everyone who has gone above and beyond to get shots into arms.
That includes county staff, the United Way and volunteers who have worked the call center or at the Bussman Building vaccination site.
While all the county department’s have helped, Honeycutt noted the library, senior center and board of elections have consistently had one or more people helping at the call center or vaccination site on a consistent basis.
Honeycutt says the county has been administering about 5,000 vaccines a week for the past 2-3 weeks.
Wayne UNC Health Care has also been administering shots, helping to increase the county’s totals.
County Board Chair Wayne Aycock says he has mainly only heard good things about the vaccination site.
According to Wednesday’s update from the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services, 24,974 people (20.3%) have been at least partially vaccinated in Wayne County while 16,947 (13.8%) have been fully vaccinated.
On Wednesday, all North Carolina residents age 16+ became eligible to receive the COVID-19 vaccine.
