School Board Reviewing Superintendent Candidates

School Board Reviewing Superintendent Candidates

Wayne County Public Schools is about to enter the next phase in its superintendent search.

At last week’s special meeting, Wayne County School Board Chair Chris West shared that the candidate pool has been received.

Wayne County Board of Education Attorney Richard Schwartz says the next step is setting dates for looking over the applicants.

Schwartz noted the school board members need to review the candidates, and noted there were “a lot” of applicants.

Attorney Schwartz also says the list of candidates must be kept confidential at this time.

The North Carolina School Boards Association, who is helping facilitate the search process for the Board, will need to meet with the Board in the coming month to discuss the timeline to consider applications and selection of first round interviews for candidates.

The Board of Education plans to meet April 13th to start reviewing the applications.
