Body Of Missing Child Found In Neuse River, Search Continues For Father

Crews have recovered the body of the youngest victim that went missing in the Neuse River last week.

Around 2 PM on Monday, the body of 5-year-old Braylin Holman was located in the Neuse River during a systematic search for the two missing individuals. This scene remains active as crews continue to search for and recover 38-year-old Sterling Holman.

The father and son were fishing at the boat launch off Highway 117 south of Goldsboro on Wednesday evening.  The son fell into the water and the father went in after the child.  Both had not been seen since.

The Wayne County Sheriff’s Office, Johnston County Sheriff’s Office, Arr-Mac Water Rescue, Craven County Emergency Services, Goldsboro Fire Department, Grantham Volunteer Fire Department, Foothills Search and Rescue, and Western Carolina University will remain in the water throughout the afternoon as part of this on-going recovery.
