Joyce Marie Jackson Cox, 86, passed away Sunday, March 21, 2021 at her home surrounded by her family. Born in Wayne County on December 31, 1934, she was the daughter of the late Melvin Tatum Jackson and Annie Lee Grady Jackson.

Joyce along with her husband, Don owned and operated J & G Appliance in Goldsboro. She was a dedicated and faithful member of First Free Will Baptist Church in Goldsboro where she was active in many areas, including the ladies auxiliary.

Joyce will be remembered for her devotion to her church and her family.

A service to celebrate her life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 25, 2021 at the Eastern Carolina State Veterans Cemetery with Rev. Dr. Otis E. Hamm officiating. Those attending the service are asked to wear a facial covering and practice social distancing.

Joyce is survived by her son, Ritchie Cox and husband, Christopher of Myrtle Beach; daughter, Johanna Cox of Goldsboro; sister, Elizabeth Daughtry of Goldsboro; niece, Sarah Daughtry; and nephew, Jim Daughtry.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Donald “Don” Richard Cox, Sr.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to her niece, Sarah for the loving care she provided to Joyce in her final days.
