Wilbert Forrest Martin, 86, Mount Olive area resident, went to be with his Lord Wednesday afternoon, March 17, 2021.

Known by friends and co-workers as Marty, he had honorably served in the United States Air Force, was a long-time, faithful member of Manley’s Grove Pentecostal Holiness Church, and because of his great love for children, he was a member of and supporter of Mount Olive Friends of the Parks.

He had been employed in the maintenance department at Burlington Industries, and had manned the Wayne County Recycling Center at Grantham, and had operated Marty’s Lawn Care Service in the Mount Olive area. He was quite knowledgeable with regards to carpentry, heating and air conditioning, electrical service, farming, and welding.

The Martin family will receive friends at Tyndall Funeral Home on Saturday, March 20, from 1 until 2 p.m. followed by funeral services at 2 p.m. The Rev. Chris Watkins and the Rev. Donald Massey will officiate. Interment will be in the Holloman Family Cemetery. Mr. Martin is survived by his wife of nearly 59 years, Janice Holloman Martin; a daughter, Debbie Martin Berens of Mount Olive; a son, Tony Martin and wife, Lori S. Martin, of Mount Olive; grandchildren, Greg Berens, Shane Berens and wife, Rachel, Teresa Goodwin and husband, Brian, Kevin Martin and wife, Lisa, Amberley Davis and husband, Justin, Gary Mark Tillman and wife, Jessica, and Casey Tillman Kelly; great-grandchildren, Leanna Berens, Paisley Goodwin, Aleigha Martin, Emma Rose Davis, Rhylea Kelly, and Clay Tillman; a brother, Billy Martin; three sisters, Angelita Johnson, Eunice Simmons, and Della Hill; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Martha Knowles; and parents, Charlie and Leslie Frances Summerlin Martin.
