The levels on the Neuse River near Goldsboro are finally dropping.  As of 5 AM today, the National Weather Service says the Neuse River remains at about 21.5-feet, still in “Moderate Flood Stage.”  The local river is expected to continue dropping and be out of flood stage by the end of the week.  A Flood Warning remains in effect for Wayne County.

The high water will take a little longer to recede downstream in places like Seven Springs and Kinston.  In Kinston, the Neuse River is close to 20-feet and is expected to remain in “Moderate Flood Stage” until early next week.
