Museum’s 135th USCT Exhibit Opens This Saturday

The Wayne County Museum opens its newest exhibit this weekend.

In honor of Black History Month, the local museum will showcase the history of the little-known Black soldiers of the Civil War, particularly the 135th United States Colored Troop formed right here in Goldsboro.

Jennifer Kuykendall, the Executive Director of the Wayne County Museum, appeared on Jeff Farrow’s Morning Show on Goldsboro’s Greatest Hits 1150 and 98.3.

The exhibit, “Fighting for Freedom: The 135th USCT, Black Soldiers of the Civil War,” opens this Saturday, February 20th and runs through May 29th.

Museum hours: Tues-Fri 11am-4pm/ Saturday 10am-6pm. The Wayne County Museum is closed on Sundays and Mondays.
