Mary Elizabeth Campbell Barnwell, age 93, passed away Wednesday at Kitty Askins Hospice Center. Born in Orange County, she was the daughter of the late William Monroe Campbell and Swannie Ione Rudd Campbell and wife of the late James “Jim” David Barnwell. She was also preceded in death by a son in law, Johnnie Poandl, brothers, Franklin Edward Campbell, John Robert Campbell and sisters, Barbara Jean Campbell Douglas and Peggy Ann Campbell Wagner. A service to celebrate her life will be held Sunday at 3:00 pm at Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home with Pastor Danny Johnson officiating. Family members will remain to greet friends at the funeral home following the service. A committal service will be held Monday at 12:00 noon at the Eastern Carolina State Veterans Cemetery.

Mrs. Barnwell is survived by her children, Belinda G. Hall and husband, Wayne, Bobby L. Barnwell, and Donna B. Poandl; her brothers, James William Campbell and William “Bill” Monroe Campbell, Jr.; four grandchildren, Stephanie Poandl, Shannon Kidd, Andrea Hall and David Hall; and one great grandchild, Anthony Hall.
