Jonathan Harold Delano, 55, passed away Sunday, February 7, 2021 at Kitty Askins Hospice Center. Born in San Antonio, Texas on November 15, 1965, he was the son of Joyce B. Delano and the late John Franklin Delano.

Jonathan was a resident of RHA Howell’s Child Care – Bear Creek. He possessed a loving, radiant personality that made him loved by all who met him. Jonathan never met a stranger and was the most caring and compassionate person you’d ever meet. He had a determined spirit and defied all odds and excelled at everything he did. Jonathan loved the Special Olympics and participated in almost every sport and event since he was 8 years old. He loved his music and loved to dance. Jonathan worked at Wayne Opportunity Center in Goldsboro for over 35 years doing whatever was asked of him with a smile. He loved his church and church family at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.

The family will receive friends on Thursday, February 11, 2021, from 12:00 – 1:00 p.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, followed by a funeral service at 1:00 p.m. in the chapel. Interment will follow at Evergreen Memorial Cemetery. The family respectfully requests those attending the services wear a face covering and practice social distancing measures.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by his sister, JoAnn McDuffie; nephew, Corinthus “Man” Delano; and niece, Emani McDuffie.
