Around 6:15 PM Tuesday, the Kinston Police Department responded to a vehicle crash at the corner of E. Lenoir Avenue and N. East Street.  EMS and Kinston Department of Fire and Rescue also responded to assist with life-saving measures.  The initial investigation revealed a dirt bike driven by 27-year-old Dedrick D. Dail, Jr. of Kinston was traveling along E. Lenoir Ave when the operator apparently lost control of the bike and was struck by a Jeep Grand Cherokee operated by a 46-year-old Kinston resident.  The dirt bike rider succumbed to his injuries at the scene.  The driver of the Jeep was not injured.  The Kinston P.D. says the fatal crash is still under investigation.
