Bonuses are approved for some Wayne County Government employees for their continued work during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Tuesday, the Wayne County Board of Commissioners approved the budget amendment awarding the $500 hazard pay bonuses to certain essential county employees that were not offered emergency FMLA leave through the FFRCA (Families First Coronavirus Response Act).
Wayne County Finance Director Allison Speight says, once parameters were applied, the total of the hazard pay bonuses was reduced to $358,168.45.
The employees eligible for the bonuses include:
- Law Enforcement/Detention employees
- EMS
- Emergency Management (Fire Marshal, 911 Telecommunications, Emergency Management)
- Department of Public Health
- Department of Social Services
- Facilities
