Brenda Carrol Parrish Suddreth

January 31, 2021, 73, La Grange –

Brenda Carrol Parrish Suddreth, 73, was released from her earthly bounds to enter eternal rest on Sunday, January 31, 2021, surrounded by her loving family. Carrol was born in Wayne County to the late Walter Emmitt and Sally Daniels Parrish on September 4, 1947. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Judy Ward; sister-in-law, Jean S. Conway; and in-laws, Thomas H. and Betty M. Suddreth.

Growing up on the family farm, Carrol gained a strong work ethic early on. Whether working in the tobacco fields or helping her mother around the house, she accepted each job with pleasure.

Between jobs, there was plenty of time for fun. From building stick houses out of tobacco twine with her sisters to playing a game of Horse with all her siblings, there was plenty of fun to be had. Carrol was quite the athlete and enjoyed playing basketball far into her adulthood. A chance to play on the church’s softball league brought her great pleasure. She enjoyed it so much, she continued playing until her daughter, Robin, was old enough to play on the team with her.

With talents beyond measure, Carrol created many treasures for family and friends. Being an excellent seamstress, she made some of Robin’s childhood clothes. Many quilts were completed through her stitching, and her ability with a paint brush brought beautiful scenes to life. She could paint on anything, whether it be a glass jug, ceramics, wood, or even a mailbox.

Carrol had a brilliant mind and an innate ability with numbers and history. This was a prized asset during her career as the office manager of R. O. Creech & Son Fertilizer and several car dealerships. She served her family well as she helped her grandchildren with special school projects. Carrol was always available to give her assistance with anything needed by anyone.

There was no place on earth more precious to Carrol than her yard. Anything she could do outside brought her immense pleasure. Before she retired, she could hardly wait to get off work just so she could tend to her flower garden or take care of her yard. With a heart for serving others and a drive to stay busy, Carrol even took the time to pick up pinecones in her neighbor’s yard when it was needed.

A service to remember Carrol’s life will be held on Friday, February 5, 2021 at 3:00 PM at La Grange First Free Will Baptist Church with Rev. Ronnie Hobgood officiating. Committal will follow in Fairview Cemetery.

Left to cherish Carrol’s memory are her husband, Wade Suddreth; her best friend and daughter, Robin Wade Benson and husband, Garry; grandchildren, Garry Austin Benson and wife, Sayeda and Lauren Benson Harrell and husband, Seth; great-grandchild, Aleena HaQue; step-daughter, Kathryn Caroline Suddreth; siblings, Eugene Parrish and wife Dora, Donald Parrish and wife, Christine, and Sylvia Galloway and husband, Ronald; brother-in-law, Joe Ward; brother- and sister-in-law Ronald and Betty Rouse; and many special nieces and nephews.
