January 8, 2021, 89, Goldsboro –

James Preston Holland, Sr., 89, went to be with his Lord on Friday, January 8, 2021 at Wayne UNC Health Care.

Preston was born in Wilson County on October 10, 1931 to the late J. Elmer and Victoria Atkinson Holland. He had been a valued employee of Motor Bearings and Parts in Goldsboro. Preston was an active member of Stoney Creek Free Will Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and was a member of the Friendship Sunday School Class.

Those who met Preston could always see a smile on his face and could count on his kindness and unconditional love and friendship. Preston had a wonderful sense of humor and never took himself too seriously. He was a good friend, a great father and had a generous heart. Preston provided a wonderful home for his family and gave all he could to his family and strangers alike

The family will receive friends Monday from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. in the fellowship hall at Stoney Creek Free Will Baptist Church. A private family graveside service will be at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday at Kirby Family Cemetery in Kenly with Pastor Josh Whitfield and Pastor Barry Williamson officiating.

Preston is survived by his wife of 68 years, Bobbie Kirby Holland; sons, James “Jimmy” Holland, Jr. and wife Luanne of Durham and Mark Holland and wife Penny of Erwin; grandchildren, Dillon Holland and wife Kimberly and Rachel Sanders and husband Kyle; sisters, Shirley Edwards and husband William of Cary and Dorothy Watkins and husband Roger of Kenly; and sister-in-law Jean Holland of Kenly.

Mr. Holland was preceded in death in addition to his parents by his sisters, Ethel Daffin and Inez Young and a brother Paul D. Holland
