Governor Urges Continued Vigilance As Vaccine Arrives in N.C.

(NORTH CAROLINA NEWS NETWORK) — Governor Roy Cooper praised the implementation of the COVID-19 vaccination plan, but warned North Carolinians that there will still be quite a bit of time before the vaccine has an impact on COVID-19 metrics in the state. While the Pfizer vaccine is already in North Carolina, Governor Cooper says he hopes the state will receive a shipment of the Moderna vaccine next week.

An additional 182 people were in the hospital with COVID-19 in North Carolina as of Tuesday. That brings the state to a record high of 2,735 hospitalizations with 96% of the state’s hospitals reporting. During his briefing on Tuesday, Governor Cooper said he’s concerned about hospital staff being exhausted.

In addition to the three hospitals who received the COVID-19 on Monday, eight more hospitals received shipments Tuesday and began vaccinating.
