Wanda Louise Russell

Wanda Louise Russell

November 26, 2020, 73

Wanda Louise Russell, 73, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, November 26, 2020 at UNC Chapel Hill. Born in St. Louis, Missouri on August 26, 1947, she was the daughter of the late Homer Aldridge and Helen Manus Aldridge.

Wanda was a member of The First Pentecostal Holiness Church of Mount Olive. Her love for Christ and her church was evident in her life. Growing up, Wanda was a Girl Scout and was an Honor Roll student; she loved to challenge herself in order to gain knowledge each and every day. At night, Wanda could be found sitting in front of her television watching Jeopardy! and The Wheel of Fortune, or sitting down doing a crossword puzzle. Wanda’s family will always remember her singing and dancing to the song “Love Potion No. 9.”

Family was paramount to Wanda. Nothing brought her more joy than spoiling her grandchildren, and seeing a big smile on their faces. Wanda loved quilting, until her health would not longer allow her to do so.

A memorial service to celebrate Wanda’s life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, November 30, 2020 at The First Pentecostal Holiness Church of Mount Olive with Pastor Jeff Dail presiding. The family will receive friends in the hour prior to the service. We respectfully ask that everyone wear a mask and practice social distancing guidelines while attending the service. For those unable to attend, there will be a livestream of the service. To watch the livestream, please go to Mt. olive Pentecostal Holiness Church’s Facebook page.
