Frances Carolyn Seeley King, 79, awakened at the gates of Heaven on Monday, November 30, 2020. Carolyn was born in Norfolk, Virginia to the late Corrie Cleveland and Doris Buckmaster Seeley on December 19, 1940. Along with her parents and her Lord, Carolyn was welcomed into Heaven by her late husband of 57 years, Ron King, who preceded her in death on July 18, 2018.
Carolyn had incredible talent and loved to use her skills to help people. For around 30 years, she owned and operated “The Curtain Showroom” and made many a curtain for members of our community. Her skills went beyond sewing as she tended to her beautiful flowers and tied more bows than one could count. With a knack for design, Carolyn enjoyed every opportunity she had to peruse the designs and merchandise for sale at Holiday Shows.
Never one to be idle, Carolyn devoted her energy to the concerns of her family. From shopping trips at Belk to caring for ailing members of the family, Carolyn filled her days with activities surrounding her husband and daughters. She was a wonderful mother, the ultimate caregiver, and the best of friends with members of her family.
Sunday lunch with Carolyn was not to be missed. Her lavish spreads would easily make your mouth water. Famous for her fried chicken and chicken pot pie, any day was a good one to have your feet under Carolyn’s table. Just about every night at her house, she would prepare something special.
Carolyn was a devoted member of her church, White Oak Grove Original Free Will Baptist, for many years. There, she was instrumental in starting the bell program and attended services faithfully.
A graveside service to honor Carolyn’s life will be held Thursday, December 3, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. in Fairview Cemetery with Pastor Bob Smith officiating.
Carolyn is survived by her two daughters, Lorree King Lee and husband, Danny and Kim King Smith and husband, Steve; three precious grandchildren, Daniel Lee and wife, April, Anna Lee and friend, Corey, and Jeb Smith and wife, Jaiden; and a great-grandson, Reid Lee.
