County & Wayne UNC Partner to Flip The Curve Of COVID-19

Wayne County, along with Wayne UNC Health Care, are working together to help slow the spread of COVID-19. Together, the county and Wayne UNC have launched the Flip The Curve campaign to help spread the importance of everyone doing their part to turn the trajectory of COVID-19 cases around. Cases across the state continue to climb, even higher than in the spring, so the two entities are uniting with a shared goal of flipping the increasing in cases per day to a decreasing number of cases per day.

“Since this pandemic began, our partnership with Wayne UNC Health Care has been incredibly important in fighting COVID-19 in our community,” said County Manager Craig Honeycutt. “We know Wayne County is a strong community. If we all work together, we can have a significant impact on lowering the spread of COVID-19 right here at home.”

Wayne UNC Health Care Director of Infection Control Chanda Newsome, RN, BSN, CIC added, “We urge members of the community to rethink the activities they decide to engage in and make decisions to keep themselves and others safe. By wearing a mask over the nose and mouth and social distancing at least six feet, members of the community could work together to slow the spread of COVID-19 and support our healthcare team.”

Residents can visit http://www.flipthecurve.com/ to take the Flip the Curve pledge and upload a selfie in their mask to be featured on the site. Businesses and organizations can also get involved by taking the pledge to follow current guidelines and upload their logo to be featured on the site as an organization who cares about protecting the community. This new site is loaded with the latest news on COVID-19 from the experts at Wayne UNC Health Care as well as the latest guidance from NCDHHS for individuals.
