Mercedes Abelleria Smith, 78, passed away at her home on Tuesday, November 3, 2020. Mercedes was born in Washington D.C. to the late Jesus and Manuela Dorado.

Mercedes loved nothing more than spending time with her family. Along with spending time with her family, Mercedes loved being on the computer playing solitaire or scrolling through Facebook and listening to The Eagles. Mercedes had a special feline friend, Cinder, who was her loving companion for many years.

Mercedes is survived by her sons, Melvin Smith, II, and wife Amy, and Mike Smith and wife Missy; daughter Debbie Ligor and husband Paul; grandchildren Josh Smith and wife Kendra, Joey Smith, Patrick Ligor, and Nicole Ligor.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Melvin Smith, Sr.

A private service for close friends and family will be held a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family ask you to make a memorial contribution to a charity of your choice.
