Margaret Jean Manning Grady, age 75, resident of the Scott’s Store community, Mount Olive, passed away Wednesday morning, October 21, 2020.
A native of Nash County, she was the daughter of the late Rudolph and Louise Bass Manning.
Known by her family and friends to be an excellent cook, she had been employed in the lunchroom at B. F. Grady School during the time her boys were in school. She had also worked at Mount Olive Sportswear, Burlington Industries, Warsaw Manufacturing, and Boling Chair Co. Never one to sit idle, she and a friend had cleaned homes and churches, and she assisted her husband in the operation of Grady’s Auction House.
Jean is survived by her husband, Henry Carroll Grady, of the home; three sons, Hank Grady of Mount Olive, with special friend, Gail Boone, of Kenansville; Kenny Grady of Mount Olive; and Brandon Grady of Mount Olive; grandchildren, Haley Grady, Danielle Grady, Buddy Grady, Kylie Jo Grady, Nick Grady, and Alex Thames; a great-grandson, Jameson Grady; two sisters, Jane Manning of Calif., and Diane Manning of Kentucky; two brothers, Bill Manning of Myrtle Beach, and Donnie Manning of Alabama; and a very special and dear friend, Sue Rogers of Mount Olive.
The Grady family will have a graveside service to honor the memory of their loved one. This will be held Friday, October 23, at 2 p.m. at the Grady Family Cemetery near the home. Pastor Jeffrey Dail will officiate. Following the service, the family will greet friends at Grady Auction House.
