County Proclaims Breast Cancer Awareness Month

Early detection is critical for surviving breast cancer.

At the last county board meeting, Commissioner Wayne Aycock read the county’s annual Breast Cancer Awareness Month Proclamation, touching on an issue that hits close to home.

Aycock is one of the few male breast cancer survivors.

He noted that only 1% of breast cancer occurs in males.

Aycock encouraged everyone, especially women, to be screened for breast cancer.

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and Wayne County has been doing what it can to raise awareness of the life threatening disease that affects thousands every year.
