916th ARW Welcoming Pegasus To Seymour Johnson

The cooperation between Seymour Johnson Air Force Base and the surrounding Wayne County community continues to be imperative for everyone’s success.

This was one of the points hammered home during the Wayne County Chamber of Commerce’s annual State of the Military presentation this week.

Rick Sumner, the Chair of the Military Affairs Committee, talked about the work of the Friends of Seymour, which has raised over $500,000 to help promote the needs of the local Air Force Base.

Col. Stephen Lanier, the Commander of the 916th Air Refueling Wing, talked about the new KC-46A Pegasus aircraft that is making its home at Seymour Johnson.

Lanier noted the KC-46A would not have come to Seymour Johnson if it wasn’t for the reputation of the base and the help of the community.

Col. Lanier says there are still plans to properly welcome the new KC-46As to Seymour Johnson with a party once it is safe to do so.

The State of the Military was held on Tuesday at The Maxwell Center and virtually.
