P.D., Sheriff’s Office Pursue Justice Assistance Grant

The Goldsboro Police Department and Wayne County Sheriff’s Office are once again teaming up to go after funds from the annual Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant.

The grant is worth a total of $34,766.

Goldsboro Police Chief Mike West explained how the grant would be split to the city council on Tuesday.

West says the GPD would be eligible to receive $20,859.60 and intends to use the funds to purchase crowd control protective equipment for officers.

The sheriff’s office would be eligible to receive $13,906.40 and would use that to purchase a vehicle.

The Goldsboro City Council gave its approval allowing the Goldsboro P.D. to apply for the Justice Assistance Grant.
