Goldsboro Rotary Club Presents Field Of Honor

Goldsboro Rotary Club Presents Field Of Honor

The Goldsboro Rotary Club is pleased to present an opportunity to honor your heroes in a beautiful setting on a beautiful campus.  Thanks to a partnership with Wayne Community College, hundreds of United States flags will fly on the lawns of Wayne Community College in A Tribute to Service Above Self, as Goldsboro Rotarians bring their inaugural Field of Honor® flag display to the heart of eastern North Carolina.  This formation honors those who by their lives to honor the flag.

Flags in the display may be dedicated to show support and honor active-duty military, veterans, first responders, and neighbors in a tangible and visible way.  Identified by special tags, these flags may be sponsored for $40, and the flag with its tag will be received by sponsors as a memento of the event.  Proceeds will raise funds to support charitable programs of Rotary International and the Goldsboro Club.

The Goldsboro Field of Honor® display is a gift to the community made possible through donations, sponsorships, and the efforts of dedicated volunteers.  Please show your support and gratitude by sponsoring a flag or making a donation.

This is an experience hard to describe, but not to be forgotten.  We invite all to visit the Goldsboro Field of Honor® display and walk with us among the posted flags.  The display is open to all without charge.

The virtual opening ceremony is scheduled for Tuesday, September 17th at 1p.m. at Wayne Community College. This ceremony will be recorded and offered virtually on Facebook LIVE.

The field will be open during day light hours only (dawn to dusk) for your safety.  There will be some lighting on the flags overnight which is protocol for flags that are not lowered overnight.  However, it will not be sufficient for the public to visit the field after the sun has set.

All visitors to the campus must first go to the COVID tent for screening.  This will ensure everyone’s safety for the duration of the event.  Directional signs are provided at the onset of campus.

The flags will be set up in a grid pattern with a tag on each flag marking its location.  The location will be indexed and the index will be available at the sponsor sign and onsite through the duration of the event with the closing ceremony scheduled for November.

Now is the time to purchase your flag in honor or in memory of someone whose life honors or has honored the flag.  We have a limited number of flags left, so please order your flag quickly.  Go to http://www.goldsbororotary.org/ and click on Field of Honor® and purchase your flag today.
